Welcome:

X-Dog Events and the Maupin community invite you to come and enjoy a special weekend of adventure, celebration, and fun for all. You may want to purge some endorphines and do the event, or sit on the river banks watching friends and family work up a lather (while you enjoy a cold one). There will be fun for all. Be sure to support those businesses which are helping bring you this event!

ABOUT:

The event will feature a Grand Prix start where participants will run 1-mile to their bikes... then RIDE a 26-mile loop... then ROW/PADDLE 3-miles on the Deschutes (downstream)... then RUN 4-miles along the river banks... then ENJOY A FINISH PARTY! A real Central Oregon adventure.

Event Basics:
** 2 Divisions. Solo and Relay.

RELAYS may have 2 TO 4 people. ONLY ONE person needs to register for the team.
LEGS: 1-Mile Run, Bike, Paddle (can be 1-4 people in boat), RUN

START/FINISH:
The Imperial Hotel, Maupin (on the banks of the river!)

Grand Prix Start:

Participants will have about a 1-mile run to their bikes. Bikes will be staged and ready at the Imperial Hotel. A shuttle will take participants to the "START" and they will run back to their bikes.

The Bike Loop:

The bike portion of the event starts and finishes at the Imperial. Riders will travel UP through Maupin and finishes riding along the banks of the Deschutes. Here is a link the the basic routing.

The "ROW":

3.5 miles from the Imperial to Blue Hole. Boats will be shuttled to the finish after completing the paddle/row section. The stretch of river is mild with one set of class 1-2 rapids. There will be assistants to help enter and exit the water, and there will be safety boats on the course. PFD's are required and provided for those who rent the boats as part of registration. A safety briefing will take place at the boat launch, just prior to shuttling to the start.

NEW: Teams may use 4 PEOPLE in a raft if they choose!
* We recommend an inflatable kayak. You can reserve one with your registration. If you reserve/rent a boat through the registration we will have it at the start, and pick it up at the finish for you.
* If you choose to use your own kayak, we highly recommend a having a spray skirt.

The RUN:

The 4-Mile run course starts at the boat finish. The route returns along the river (back upstream) to the Imperial. Participants will be able to have drop bags sent to the run/paddle transition. The run is on the rural road that follows the river.
