WHITE PASS SCRAMBLE
-- The Ultimate Wicked

July 24, 2005
Start Time: 10:00 AM
Location: White Pass, Washington - Start/Finish is at the White Pass Ski Area

The Event

For nine years people have asked: Is there anything in Washington like the ‘scrambles’ you organize (term used loosely) in Oregon. We replied, ‘NO’.
Well, we have a NEW response.  It is an emphatic “YES”.

Not only do we have a couple new events in Washington, but we have raised the bar (like LIMBO, not like Cocktails... wait... maybe both, and I think the Limbo Bar is lower... crap... just read on).
The White Pass Scramble was almost named the Adventure By Pass -- as everybody from the average Joe to the seasoned athlete is going to get a great physical challenge. We are tossing everything into this mother, and it starts at 4,500’. We won’t offend you with pretty little wood chip paths, and paved bike routes.  We are throwing down some superior course routing.  Over the mountains, and through the woods is just the beginning.
If you can take a moment from clearing the burning sweat from your eyes, and dump that lung butter that is choking you... there are some incredible views.  Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helens will witness your suffering.

The Course

The course will be between 5 and 6 miles of fun and adventure. No technical skills are required. The winners are expected to take between 40 and 45-minutes. Average participants will take 1 to 1.5 hours. All sorts of terrain will be involved. Your experience will be more about the adventure, and less about your time.

Questions and attempts at Answers:

Can I do it?
Answer: Well if you can walk or run 5-miles you will likely finish with a smile on your face, and curse words under your breath.. or muttered loudly.
What should I wear?
Answer: Anything you don’t mind filthing up... or ruining. Old running shoes, or trail shoes usually work best.
Are there aid stations?
No, there will likely be water, but I wouldn’t drink it... especially after you have crossed it.   Carry your own aid, if you want it.
Is this a Trail Run?
Answer: No.  It is a SCRAMBLE. Some refer to it as a trail run on steroids.  Victims Participants follow a course marked with surveyors tape through, over, and potentially under, a course of creativity and adventure. No technical navigation skills are necessary.

Awards

We will give awards to top performers, both overall and in age divisions. Don’t do the event for the awards, do it for the experience, and do it for a chance to hang with some very cool cats. The awards might be really cool, and they might suck.  We have not made them yet.
We will also have some “random” prize drawings.

Pre and Post Event

A chunk of your fun will be pre and post race activities.  Very hip people normally attend -- very few A-holes.  We will have food and beverages (BEER) and some activities to entertain you. Pre and Post event camping is always a hit, and there is a ton of adventures surrounding the area.  If you are interested in camping let us know, contact kevin@xdogevents.com -- Make this a vacation!!!
